Walking with Your Eyes Closed

I was walking back home from school one cloudy afternoon. I have took this way to go back home for months now. And, it has become more of a routine to me now. I used to dread walking back home. But now, walking back home is a routine. But that is not what I want to write about.

I was walking, as you already know. The path, or shall we call it the way back home, was a bout 1 km or so from the bus stop. Then, suddenly a thought popped out in my mind. I don't know whether to call this thought crazy or not, well you decide whether it's crazy or not.

Why don't I try walking with my eyes closed?

The pedestrian walk is always not busy and it's perfectly straight till the end. So is the main street. There may be a thing or two that is blocking my way. But, it is quite safe to walk with my eyes closed.

So, there I went with my eyes closed. Let me tell you what I thought and feel during that particular experience. It was scary at first, not knowing what is in front of you. I kept on thinking that I might knock or bump into something, when there is obviously nothing in front.

Always, when I started to be confident to walk without opening my eyes, I will have this feeling that says, "There's something right in front of YOU!" And when I opened my eyes, there's absolutely nothing in front of me, save for the tree that is metres away.

But, it took practice to walk with my eyes closed for a distance of 20 steps. It is quite hard to achieve that, actually. But the whole point of me writing this down is the similarity between this little experience and the experience of living and practicing our Christian values in our lives.

Closing your eyes while you walk takes a lot of courage and trust. So is living as a Christian. Most of the time, we may not know what is lying ahead of us. Take for example, my operation, I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen to me at the end of the day. I don't know whether everything will be fine or not, nor do I know whether things are going to be bad.

But, I was really assured that I was in the hands of the most awesome, powerful One. During that moment, I was walking, with my eyes closed. And, I think that that is what matters. It just proves how much is your trust and faith in Him.

So, let's walk with our eyes closed, shall we?
